Let's be Reading Nerds!

Today we are getting geared up for our Reading Nerds contest! Each week, students will tally the number of books they read. The class that reads the most get to be the NERDS of the week and get to show off their NERD glasses!

The Holiday Season is Upon Us!

I just can't get over the fact that is is December and 80 degrees outside. I am definitely thankful that we live in a climate where outside recess is so accessible in winter!! Big events are happening this week. On Thursday, students will participate in and watch our annual school spelling bee. On Friday, we will be visited by one of our district's Junior Highs and will be treated to a holiday performance with their band, choir and orchestra.

More exciting though---- The 4th grade teachers will be attending a very special technology training this Friday that will have a HUGE impact for our students. Updates to come!!

Back Up and Running

Sorry for my week's delay! The hurricane knocked out my web server for a bit, but now we're back in business.

It's a busy week in 4th grade, as we all start dreaming of turkey and cranberry sauce! We are beginning our study of Native American Tribes indiginous to Texas. In reading students are writing their autobiographies. We have to write our own since there is a lack of quality autobiographies appropriate for 4th grade readers. In writing, we are writing a persuasive book review. So, we are reader writers and writer readers this week!

A Spooky Week

Halloween is this week, and to me, that's scary! October is already over! But, learning continues in our classroom. We are working on our persuasive essays, learning about the upcoming elections and continuing our study of non-fiction texts.

Red Ribbon Week and the Parade was a blast! A special thanks goes to Mrs. Craig for desinging our door and banner decorations.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween and don't forget... Mrs. V LOVES peanut butter cups!
